THE MAN FROM MARSEILLE Print E-mail
Written by Bobby S

It's now more than 2 years since the man who epitomised for so many exactly what our club was about, left Easter Road for the final time. And in true Cool Hibernia fashion he has now been recognised by the fans, with a tribute single due for release next Monday, March 29th.

Let me say, first off, I've heard this, and I LOVE IT. It's a worthy tribute to the greatest Hibby I ever seen in a green and white shirt. But then I'm only 33. If you were on the Barnton Bus to Hampden last week you would have heard it too, and I'm sure you would add how it is a fitting tribute to one of the finest players ever to wear Hibernians colours.

This is the second single from the Masters of Truemanship and the follow-up to the cult-hit of last summer, Sunshine Spirit. In keeping with the light-hearted humour of the 1st track, The Masters (Kelman Greig & Silver Storic) have dedicated The Man From Marseille to former Hibs legend, Franck Sauzee. Both Silver & Kelman had the idea to create the track after Sauzee was sacked by Hibs as manager in 2002, but it's taken a while to find the time in amongst label and solo album commitments.

Well, at last it's finally ready and Yummi Records is very excited about The Man From Marseille. It is a truly original fitba' anthem and sounds like no football track before it - although there is a wee nod to Hibs most famous musical sons, The Proclaimers. The Man From Marseille is an acknowledgement of the quality that Franck Sauzee brought to Hibs as a player and the feel good factor that emerged in season 2000/01 is there for all to hear in the single.

The CD features 2 mixes. The 1st is the original mix whilst the 2nd is the 4 Front Teeth mix - a reference to the Edinburgh Derby in 1999 where Sauzee lost four front teeth scoring one of the winning goals at Easter Road.

The single itself along with specially designed t-shirts will be available to buy via Yummirecords.com and on sale in various pubs in and around Easter Road. The t-shirts were also on display at the CIS cup final worn by a few select fans before they go on sale.
