A year ago today, we defeated Motherwell 1-0 at Easter Road. Seven years ago today we faced up to the prospect of a relegation play off game with Airdrie after only drawing our final league game at Starks Park 1-1. This left us in 9th place in a 10 team Premier League.
Hibs defeated Motherwell in a tame end of season game, the Hibs team that day was: Andersson, Smith, Fenwick, Doumbe, Whittaker, Jack (Wiss), Brebner, Murray, Matyus, Riordan, Scott Brown (Reid)
The Attendance was: 7809, and Grant Brebner scored the only goal with a penalty.
Back in 1997, Hibs drew 1-1 at already relegated Raith. Peter Duffield had put Raith ahead, and Pat McGinlay had equalised. Many had thought that a draw would be enough, but it led to a relegation play off with Airdire.
The Hibs team was: Leighton, Renwick, McQuilken, Joe McLaughlin, Welsh, Dow, Tosh, Power, Elliot ( Wright), Jackson, McGinlay (Lavety)
Attendance: 6274
