ImageHow guid was Gordon Smith? How bad was Scotsport? Jockney Green gies his opinion.

I would like tae firstly pay ma respects to the legendary Gordon Smith who sadly died at the weekend after a long illness.  Am too young tae have ever seem him play but ma auld boy always used tae say that he was probably the greatest player tae grace the jersey for Hibs.  Years ahead o his time with a skill, artistry an gentlemans approach tae everything, truly inspirational.  Considering that he won the championship wi 3 different teams, an none of them the Rantic, the mans record well never be equalled or bettered.

Tuesday – 10th August

Well a big shout out for Michael Glancy, one of the Hotline callers, as his was the only mention of the Cabbage in todays newspaper, tomorrows bog paper. I agree with the man, lets see what Mogga’s mob can do, the English connection continues as we only seem to be able to play the first 45 an we’ve got an Emile Heskey in the making with Gary O’Connor.

Wednesday – 11th August

Can we all give a hearty laugh at the Rangers stunning continuation of form in European compo’s, if I knew ‘Go home ye huns’ in Russian I’d join in with the ‘bumper’ crowd at Lokomotivs ground, these famous Rangers players dinnae half draw the spectators in.  What other team can boast such luminaries as the Invisible Man (Khizanishvili) an the Kray twins (Ricksen & Rae).

We actually get a mention on page 41 as part of the referees appointments notice,
outstanding.  We share this page with some articles linked to the 3rd force in Scottish Football, 2 former scumbo players and one who has signed a new deal rather than be snapped up by an English Premier team (ah didnae ken Crystal Palace were on the look out).

Things get slightly better in ma weegie coast edition of ‘Sportsweek’, the words “Champions Hibs” appear together in a rarely seen sentence and its hats off to the ladies for getting us there. Then next stop is the ‘Fanzine’ where I must insist on some kinda stewards enquiry into the scumbo who has won the £25 again!!! It seems every time I look at this page a Gorgie punter has scooped the hiries for spewin forth how good they are, watch out the old firm, ha ha ha hibs, blah blah. This pink bus shelter crew are really getting nippy now as they go for the Rest o Scotland championship for the 3rd year on the trot, they’ll probably issue a celebratory T-shirt or release a video or some other bullshit tae try an fill their pauper like coffers.  Mind you how can ye really knock the Festival Cup holders until we play them again, Hibs Total Fitba’ should rip past Elvis an his statues who are mair used to dealin with the Hibs Punt than us actually passin the baw, well you’ve gotta have dreams.

I was glad no tae catch Scotsport, the usual amateur pish by the sounds o things.  Can we no just have a goals or games showcase type programme, voiceover only nae visual presenter then go through every game that a camera crew are at, even consider camcorder action fur the lower leagues, so we can see what goes on in Scotland outside the Rantic.  They do it on Sky Sports, Eurosport an that so it must be cheap enough TV tae produce, please anyhing other than Jim Delahunt or Archie Mc Pherson (he’s still half radge but)

One more month til Murrays back? Easy
