Welcome to issue 110, our second Mass Hibsteria of the season. And what an enjoyable first quarter it’s been for both Hibs supporters in general and yours truly in particular!
The surprise appointment of Tony Mowbray and Mark Venus to replace the deservedly maligned Bobby Williamson has brought a welcome breath of fresh air to Easter Road. After two mind-numbing years of punt and run football under the direction of Williamson, ‘Mogga’ is bringing the best out of our young squad by coaching them to play football the way it should be played. The passing game tactics being employed is a joy to watch, and a top six finish seems very much within our own destiny. Losing a derby is never fun – not least losing bragging rights for a couple of months – but given the problems being faced by our closest rivals, I look forward to them first-footing Easter Road on January 2nd.
Everyone at Mass Hibsteria would like to congratulate Ali Tait, our former Editor, after his marriage to Tina in Franklin, North Carolina last month. I had the good fortune of attending the ceremony and look forward to re-living some of highlights in issue 111. We look forward to reading about Leon Cropley’s Letters from America, Ali!
As ever, this column comes with our perennial plea for more writers. Mass Hibsteria is very much an institution (a bit like Carstairs, really) and any contributions to our fine organ will be made very welcome. If you want to submit an article, please feel free to drop us an email at the address opposite.
Finally, I would like to thank my Editorial Committee comrades, without whom Mass Hibsteria simply would not exist. Thanks in particular to Bobby Sinnet for his tireless work on the MHHM website (and congratulations to Heather and you on the birth of Elliot), Nick Clater for keeping the ship afloat admirably (jeez, what a terrible pun) and Mike Burns for being, well, Mike! Thanks, guys.
Glory, glory to the Hibees!
