Hibs recorded only their fourth win at Tynecastle in 25 years tonight, after coming from behind to beat Hearts in the Edinburgh derby. Hearts had taken the lead just before half time when goalkeeper Simon Brown misjudged a header which was not going wide, and crept in at the post.
Whilst the first half was even, the second half was one sided: Hibs dominated apart from a spell just after Hibs made two substitutions. Ian Murray was replaced by Kevin Thomson, and this seemed sensible because the Hibs skipper had been booked and was perhaps fortunate that the incompetent John Rowbotham took no further action when Ian commited two further fouls.
The other substitution was more puzzling: Konte for Riordan. Derek looked likely to score, but as Hibs were playing more direct football than is their norm, the move was to prove inspirational.
Garry O' Connor equalised, and then Dean Shiels scored the winner. Hibs held out comfortably to take their first three points at Tynecastle since December 1999.
The question on many Hibs fans lips after the game was: How can 14,000 Hearts fans make so much silence, when a mere 5,000 on Sunday couldn't last 20 seconds? Oh, that and are we secure for third place?
