Hibs attack Motherwell back Print E-mail

ImageWell, sort of. The big news today is that some people attacked the Motherwell team bus, on it's way back after the game on Saturday.

The bizarre bit is that Hibs did not hear about this from Motherwell or the police. Oh no. They read about it in today's papers. Not exactly the way things should be done is it? Don't get me wrong, the attack on the bus is despicable and not acceptable on any level or by any means or justification. Two wrongs don't make a right though. A Motherwell official could have picked up the phone to speak to Rod Petrie, rather than the press.

The SPL fixture generator seems to have been having a bit of a nightmare recently. Hibs seem to have suffered unjustly, with our Boxing Day game being at Inverness and then we're off to Kilmarnock at New Year. Would it really have been too much to ask to 1) have got a home game over Christmas and New Year and 2) not have to travel to two of the most distant grounds in Scotland? I think not.

Of course, this time of year throws up that interesting shadow boxing game: the transfer window. The press, mainly the weedgie type, are awash with rumours of who will be leaving Hibs. For what it's worth, I don't expect anyone to leave unless it's for silly money. I'll be back on 31st January to tell you I told you so. Or not as the case may be.

One player who may be joining Hibs in January is Liam Craig, who is yet another player well known to Tony Mowbray from his days at Ipswich Town. Liam, is from the borders, and his contract is up next summer. If Ipswich resign him, then they are due money to Hearts of all people. In a situation similar to Chris Hogg’s it’s rumoured they are reluctant to take the risk, allowing Hibs to snap him up for nothing. Liam can play left back/left midfield and striker, and his versatility would provide a valuable addition to our squad especially if Stephen Glass leaves in January.
